Community investment in Matthews Yard is an important part of our model. Your financial support not only validates our presence, it pays for it. A venue built with the love and support of the community is the only type of venue we would want to operate.
We are currently raising funds for the following projects:
Workspace – £30k
Our workspace is located next door to Matthews Yard and is home to Bobski’s Kitchen, our coworking space and a selection of suites for creative entrepreneurs. The space is partially completed and occupancy exceeds 40%. The project is forecast to pass its break-even point in July 2017. We now urgently need to borrow an additional £30,000 to complete work on the premises and bring it fully into use.
The Lounge – £5k
We are converting the former live room into the Members Lounge. An intimate, 60 capacity multi-function space available for our members to hire for public or private functions and events. Featuring a baby grand piano and a laid back vibe, this room is perfect for casual, intimate gigs and events. We need to raise £3k to refresh and equip the room to maximise earning potential over the net 12 months.
Studio Theatre – £10k
Our Studio theatre was the first fully crowdfunded theatre in the UK. When it opened, it was the only independent theatre in Croydon. Over the years we have been unable to secure funding or sufficient revenue from the space to make it as good as we would like it to be. We want to borrow £10,000 to upgrade the lighting rig and controllers, improve the PA system. All investment in this space will be on equipment which can be relocated.
If you see the value in what we do and have capital to invest, then we would love to hear from you. Our loan fund offer repayment over 3 or 5 years and all loans receive a 10% premium per year. That’s 30% interest over 3 years or 50% interest over 5 years.
